About Acacia Lodge

We specialise in supporting people with enduring mental health difficulties who require 24hr nursing support due to their complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.

Our experienced and qualified staff members, working in collaboration with local and regional health/social care teams strive to deliver high quality, progressive individualised care within a safe and homely environment.

Our care packages and treatment plans developed in partnership with the individual, their support network and multi-disciplinary team ensure that all identified needs are met promoting empowerment, self-awareness and rehabilitation.

Structured activities plans are created through the guidance of the nursing team, occupational therapist (ot), associated psychiatrists and psychologists to stimulate and motivate individuals to achieve their identified goals.

We promote strong links with the local community empowering people to access local amenities, public transport and education opportunities where possible enabling social integration and aiding activities of daily living.

Our Philosophy

Each service user is viewed within the home, as a unique person with individual care requirements. The care given is centred on a framework of person centred approach in order to ensure the well being of the service user.

Staff at Acacia Lodge will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all service users within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the service users' ever-changing needs. Such needs may be medical / therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social. Service users are encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised Care Plans in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued.

The emphasis is on care provision within the home that is designed to enable our residents to function to their optimal level thus promoting, encouraging and supporting independent living within a community setting whilst feeling safe and secure in a caring environment.

The service user will feel safe and secure within our home whilst retaining their own identity and personality through interaction within the home, the environment, the staff, other service users and the wider community.

This will be achieved through activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem, and social interaction with other service users and with recognition of the following core values of care, which are fundamental to the philosophy of our Home:

  • PRIVACY: The right of a service user to be left alone and undisturbed whenever they wish.

  • DIGNITY: The understanding of a service user's needs and treating them with respect.

  • INDEPENDENCE: Allowing a service user to take calculated risks, to make their own decisions and think and act for themselves.

  • CHOICE: Giving a service user opportunity to select from a range of alternative options.

  • RIGHTS: Keeping all basic human rights available to the service users.

  • FULFILMENT: Enabling the service user to realise their own aims and helping them to achieve these goals in all aspects of daily living.
